Similar issues but not to the same extent - Sharon Bulova/Jeff McKay are more moderate and business-friendly than Marc Elrich. But the younger politicians in Fairfax are AOC-like types light on any practical experience and heavy on virtue signaling.
I know of no FFX county elected officials who oppose Bulova/McKay on business issues. What is wrong with virtue signaling? Should one signal vice?
Do you struggle with the entire English language, or only select phrases? Virtue signaling is generally understood to mean placing an emphasis on lofty verbal declarations of one’s moral character, typically accompanied by few acts to back them up (“the conspicuous expression of moral values”).
It seems like those who attack so called virtue signalling don't want more acts, and in fact attack actual acts. And yes, verbal declarations of welcome, etc are still a good thing - it can give comfort to the hated, and make the haters feel isolated. Which AFAICT is what ticks haters off. When you say "virtue signalling is understood" what you really mean is "this is how it plays into my rhetorical game" Of course you gave your own political history in order to signal your own virtue. But its okay, we don't need you in NoVa.
