Apparently The Washington Ballet has yet to pay Septime Webre any of the royalties they owe him for using his production of The Nutcracker. It’s been 3 years and he hasn’t received anything. I know they are having huge financial problems and mismanagement issues, but stop paying for live music and renting out the Opera House if you can’t even pay the people to whom you owe money. I’m sure Nutcracker is the only production they make any money on, and the least they can do is pay the person who is allowing them to make that money. Shameful.
Source or link?
Septime Webre
He helped them dig their financial hole. He can get to the back of the line.
I'm not the PP you're responding to, but... A lot of factors put the Washington Ballet into their "financial hole." Payment of royalties is a very basic obligation for any performing arts organization, whatever its financial situation. I hope the non-payment is somehow part of a plan to pay royalties eventually when finances allow it.
