Men (in the West) treat women with more respect than at any other point in history. Not long ago, women couldn’t own property, gain higher education, or vote, and spent most of their lives performing menial work while constantly being pregnant. Women, in theory, have it better than ever. But they are somehow more resentful toward men than ever.[/quote]

Actually, these gains you identify have resulted in a backlash among some men who resent that.  I mean, these guys are pretty open about it--they explicitly state that they think it was better when women more economically dependent on men, because then women had less ability to turn down guys who wanted to date/marry them.  Women can say "yes," and it pisses them off that they say "yes" to other men but not to them--if women are sexually available, they (meaning specifically the women they are attracted to) should be available to them.  They feel like they are being denied something they are entitled to, and they blame women for exercising choice rather than being grateful that these guys want them.  Honestly, these guys don't seem to like women all that much, which is a separate, but related issue.  [/quote]
