Parents should tell their children to text them if Churchill tries to pull their child out of class for an interview. The child should not answer any questions without a parent present.
I strongly disagree. These are teenagers, and they are old enough to say what they saw. Having a parent present will not help the school get to the truth of the matter.
Ask the JV football parents if they disagree. When MCPS uses these types of tactics, it is so the student doesn't have a third party / non-MCPS witness to their statements. Children can be coerced and said to say things that didn't occur. The sole objective of MCPS forcing students into interviews with out parental notification is to cover up and protect MCPS. If this is potentially a criminal investigation, CPS and/or the police should be conducting a forensic interview. These are highly trained investigators that know how to properly interview children. An interview by MCPS could potentially hamper a criminal investigation.
