I’m late to the party. What’s this about bussing? We live in Chevy Chase. Are my kids going to be bussed somewhere instead of going to the high school right near where we live?
NO. Emphatically not. No one is talking about bussing. But right now we have school boundaries that have been added a bit ad-hoc, and the addition of Woodward poses an opportunity to look at where slight adjustments could address overcrowding, shorten bus rides for some kids, and generally address some of the less sensical boundries that have been drawn over time. Think of it like gerrymandering reform. Somehow we ended up with boundaries that don't make a ton of sense, but you need to look at the whole jigsaw puzzle to figure out what a more reasonable boundary would be. In Chevy Chase, you will certainly not see your school assignment change. What MIGHT happen is that the boundaries are redrawn to include some kids not currently in-boundary, however.
