Say it with me.... *SHOW*CASE*RESULTS*DON’T*MATTER* What does matter... Were there college coaches at your games? Hopefully yes Is there mutual interest with those college coaches? Hopefully yes Did you play meaningful minutes? Hopeful yes Did you play well? Hopefully yes Did your team win? Who cares, doesn’t matter It’s a showcase. Coaches are watching to see what players can do and how they could fit into their team. The gotsoccer parents care about winning. Dumb coaches who park the bus to protect a 1-0 lead with 20 minutes left to play care about winning. But they’re not doing their players any favors if the end game to all of this is to play in college. My daughter’s ECNL team had mixed results this weekend. But her future coach was there and saw her play well in a game they lost. He doesn’t care that they lost because he spent the weekend checking in on his 2019 players that were there, finishing up his 2020 class, and watching 2021 players. It was a good weekend all around.
SSS just lost to Richmond United.
  you were in a hurry to post that, weren't you? are you on that team, or did you fell that made some point? The U15s lost in the finals to RIchmond Utd's 04s (who are the best U15 team in the region and who have 2 YNT players on their roster), after beating 2 teams and they were the ones with the tie I mentioned. The U16s won the championship bracket (which is better than BRYC, arguably one of the top U16s in the area). The U17s and U18s won all 3 games in the their bracket. That's a clearer picture. Tell me, what bracket did your kid play in? We're you on the Richmond Utd team or on one of the many ECNL teams playing below To an ECNL club this is another chance to showcase everyone on the roster. You're assumptions coming from showcase results are laughable.
You and I don't disagree on that point. I didn't post the results because I think that "proves" anything other than that they can compete. SSS wants to showcase players too. That's not just the ECNL that does that. DA clubs, ECNL clubs, good CCL clubs. I can tell you a weaker ECNL or DA (or anything else) will lose even with their best, and a stronger ECNL, DA or anything else can win with its "second" string. As I said before, I don't think SSS is the perfect specimen of a club. However, it does show it has the capacity to compete in any league. And if you don't believe that, you haven't seen them play.
