Op here.
The high school that the children were taken to for the swim party is my oldest daughters current high school.
I just asked my oldest daughter who is a freshman at the school if any of the girls shower after gym class. She said that some do and some don't, but that no-one is made to shower. She said that she does on the days that they actually sweat, which isn't very often.
She also said that pretty much all of the girls that are on the schools sports teams do shower after practices.

So yes, I guess that those showers are used by students every day.

I would have protested forced showers at the time that I was in school if that had been the rule. But that is mostly because I was a rebel at that age, and not that the nudity would have been that embarrassing.[/quote]

You are missing the point. The issue isn't the kids showering, it is the teacher, someone in a power position, joining in. 
Ask your older daughter if her coaches/ teachers strip down and job them. Because that is the issue. [/quote]
