How many people do you want to run over? A kid is almost hit in the crosswalk every week. There’s video of a teen being hit in the crosswalk on River and do we not remember running over the 90 year old lady walking home from bowling league one night?
If you're referring to dashcam video of a woman being hit, that was at the crosswalk near McDonalds, where the speed limit has always been 35. She was looking down at her phone, but indeed it was the driver's fault for not stopping. There was no visibility because the car in the right lane had stopped, but still no excuse. The 90 year old was crossing by Kenwood Country Club, at an intersection with a traffic light. I believe she was at fault because we never heard of charges being filed against the driver. That too has been 35mph for years. What I don't like is when a death is the fault of the pedestrian/cyclist not following the rules, or a driver brazenly not following the rules (like driving 100mph on River) and then we all have to suffer. Look at Little Falls Parkway by the swimming pool. A cyclist ran the stop sign on the CC Trail and was hit by a car and killed. Now because of that, they removed one lane of traffic each way, even though this incident was not the fault of the driver.
