Might be an age thing. Several of our neighbors are older white people. They hardly ever talk to us, a mixed race couple, but I don't think it's due to our mixed race.  Apparently they aren't very friendly with even the other old white people in the area.  The younger white neighbors do engage, as do the non white ones.[/quote]

I have to agree with the PP (white guy). Asian here who lives in an UMC neighborhood in MoCo and we do have a good number of black families in our community. I find our black neighbors to be much more friendly and non-pretentious and the first to initiate/attend neighborhood social gatherings.  The white families (although not all) seem to be more to themselves. Maybe they're more shy, but I feel more comfortable and more myself, to be honest, with the black families in our neighborhood.
