Agree. Our friend’s daughter is at UMD and came home for a weekend a month in feeling really sad. It is overwhelming. It can be lonely. You wonder over and over again if you made the right decision. She went back recharged and has been happy since. Being across the other side of the country can feel so overwhelming. Kids have so much more pressure these days. Life skills weren’t a top priority, grades were. And it is SO different in college. Many kids have never done many things on their own. Made decisions on their own. Learn how to live socially on their own.

Yes OP, give it more time but please let her vent, send a care package with 6 dozen cookies to give out to hallmates. Do something to make her smile. Let her know you get it. Tell her she is strong, but you are there for her.
