The MA conference is now well under way. I'm glad to see the boys ECNL league getting traction. The Oklahoma showcase is just around the corner.
"Getting traction" in what sense?
We are in the second year. The competition is good, well organized, and I think each year will just get better and better.
The MA conference is "well under way"? The U14 teams have all played 1 game each. In U15-U18, half the teams have played 3 games, and half have yet to play a single game. That aside, I don't see the league "getting traction" at all. Quite the opposite in fact. It looks to me like it's becoming clearer and clearer that the level of competition doesn't justify the cost and travel associated with this league. It would be hard to make the case that the competitive level of the local boys ECNL teams, across the board, is any higher than the local teams playing CCL or EDP.
I guess it depends on the age group. My son's team has played 3 games, and yes, I consider that this early in the season good. He's older, so I don't mind him having some club spread throughout the year. That gives him an ongoing source of practice and play to invite coaches too. I'm personally happy with it. But if you aren't, then maybe you should take your son to a team that plays in a different league. I could see EDP, but I think the CCL continues to be cannibalized by the ECNL on both sides, boys and girls, so its glory days may be over.
