My husband, two teenage kids and I just returned from a week in Scotland. It was so amazing! We flew into Edinburgh and were there for two days then rented a car and drove to some really amazing places. Our favorite was Isle of Skye. My kids loved it! I am sitting here drinking coffee and trying to get ready for work. It's good to be home but I miss Scotland already.
Sounds amazing! Could you please post your itinerary and more details? Thanks!
Flew into Edinburgh and spent first 2 days there. We stayed right on the Royal Mile and loved being right in the middle of the action. There is so much to see in Edinburgj! The castle was a ten minate walk. We loved the street entertainment. People dressed up in Scottish clothing playing bagpipes. Plenty of great restaurants, and stores. We loved all the allyways (called closes) St. Giles Cathedral , and so much more. Got rental car and drove to Oban for 1 night. On the way to Oban we stopped off at Sterling and had lunch and saw the castle there and explored the area a bit, then continued on to Oban. The scenery was just amazing. We had the view of the highlands in front of us with various Lochs beside us. Oban was a cute seaport village. The next day we got up and explored Oban a little bit and then headed to the Isle of Skye. We stopped at Glenchoe and Fort Williams on our way to Mallaig to catch the ferry to Skye. We saw the Glennfinnan Viaduct (Harry Potter movie train scene) stopped at The Ben Nevis Distilerey and a few other neat places. The drive was just gorgeous ! The ferry to Skye was only 30 minutes. We spent three days in Isle of Skye. We hiked Old Man of Storr, The Quiraing, fairy Glenn, and went to the Fairy Pools, and Neist point, and even had a picnic on a beautiful beach. We left Skye by way of the Skye Bridge and stopped at Eilean Donan Castle, Fort Augustus to search for Loch Ness, Blare Castle, dinner in Pitlochry and then back to Edinburgh to spend last night before flight home. The Scotish people are so friendly! There was plenty of great restaurants. The Highland cows are so cute. I could go on and on about this incredible place. All the places we stayed were booked through Airbnb and we were very pleased with all the places. Sorry for any grammer errors as I am severely jet lagged at the moment and trying to stay awake.
Thank you so much! This is so helpful. I would love to go to Scotland sometime soon.
