He said on WWHL something along the lines  that “it was something that happened in college” and then went on and on about how straight he is.

People experiment, especially when they're young. The fact that he kept on stating over and over again that he's straight is way more suspicious. If it was a one time thing that's in the past, then he wouldn't have reacted so defensively.
