Gee, what is it about him that makes you think he rose simply because of others handing him undeserved positions and honors rather than through his particular abilities and motivation?  Perhaps his skin color?  Wow. So original.  I'm sure you're happy to belong to the coterie of other slobby thinkers who can't get past the ancestry of any successful AA.

No, I've seen what affirmative action does to promising kids -- first it makes them lazy, and then it makes them narcissistic.  These kids get an easy pass simply for offering a "perspective."

Make your case that Obama and his wife are the products of affirmative action.  Be specific in citing your evidence.  It can't just be a combination of their skin color and the fact that they went to excellent colleges and law schools and got great jobs.  That's not evidence - that's your prejudice.  Provide real evidence that they were not qualified to go to those schools based on their accomplishments, test scores, personalities, motivation, etc. alone, and that only their African ancestry got them where they are.

Because that is what you are implying: they weren't as smart, accomplished, and qualified as their white colleagues, and that without the extending hand of affirmative action they wouldn't be where they are today.

Obamas won't release their transcripts so we will never know. The only available evidence is a report that the average SAT scores were 300 points lower for the transferred students in the year that Obama transferred to Columbia. Obama wrote in his book he was a bad HS student. The fact that we have an affirmative action policy guaranteed that their skin color was a factor for consideration. Again that doesn't mean they couldn't get in based on their merits alone.[/quote]
