We had Chinese food on Christmas Eve because I didn't want to cook a big meal. We also have been going to the movies on Christmas Day for years. It's an American thing, not a Jewish thing.
Trust me, about 70% of the people in a dc area chinese restaurant will be jewish on christmas. I always run into people from the Shul.
LOL. No. Bizzare that because you do something that you think it’s only a Jewish thing. Get out of your bubble and you’ll realize that there are folks of all faiths out there experiencing life.
I do not know if you are dense or you can not believe stuff. When I go into a Chinese Restaurant on Christmas, and I look around, instead of crosses, I see Chi's or Stars of David around necks. The people look jewish...And if you listen to the conversation, there is often some yiddish sprinkled in, particularly among those that are older. This is not everywhere. But, In Rockville, for example, it is probably 90% of the patrons. Where I go, in Fairfax County, it is somewhat lower, about 70%. Now, this will not hold true is regions devoid of jewish people. But, in the Baltimore-Washington area, there is about a quarter of a million jewish people, which is about 5% of the dc area population. I do not know how many chinese restaurants there are, but I am confident all 250,000 jews could not eat at chinese restaurants in the same day. If we assume the area supports 1,000,000 place settings (total), and about 3% are chinese, that means there are about 30,000 place settings are chinese. Figure they can seat four people per pacesetting throughout the day, that means 120,000 people in the metro area can eat chinese food. If 30% of the jews eat chinese food, that means 75000 jews will eat chinese, or about 62% of the potential space is taken up by jews.
This is the best math I’ve read today ?
