We gave $100 total, which breaks down to $20 per teacher (one kid has 2 teachers and the other has 3). Honestly I had to convince my husband to give that much. We don't give each other gifts, nor give to other family members. Each kid gets 1 or 2 small ($10-20) Hanukkah gifts. That's the extent of our holiday gift-giving. I'm happy to give to the teachers since that is the culture at the school, but I'm not going to do huge amounts on top of the enormous tuition we already pay. Day care tuition for 2 kids is more than our mortgage. Yes, I know the teachers don't see that money directly, but it still leaves me with little in the discretionary fund! [/quote]
