Actually my PP was a bit snarky. I am a parent of a TJ senior. When DC started I looked at the 9th grade IBET research stats syllabi. I was anxious as DC and I had already been told DC had the hardest IBET. RS was an utter unknown, being the first year and all. I stealthily tried to follow along to make sure DC was keeping up - DC is way too independent to allow help. And I lost pace about 2 weeks into 9th grade. Seriously - the courses move so fast and your DC will be learning so much ... give them an open field and let them run and learn AND fail. That hardest IBET had several Fs in store for DC and many of his peers along the way. (You can probably Google IBET Fs and get examples or just watch the Class of 2018 Homecoming video on youtube to see some). But they made it. And are now applying to colleges. And if the past is any indicator, about 100 will make it into Ivies. The others maybe MIT or Duke or Stanford or Chicago. (Where TJ kids go to college is also available online). And some smart ones will go to unheard of places for special research, or guaranteed med school admission, or a free ride, or a modern art curriculum. It wasn’t all easy but they will get there. However - if you are master over a slaving DC and only came to TJ to have DC be #1 at TJ and get in all the Ivies - well, it’s really really unlikely to happen. Pull your kid, move to Idaho and home school ... maybe the geographic diversity will work better for you.
