When significant portion of the class is filled with kids who did not specifically qualify for the magnet rigor, the teacher cannot deliver instruction at that rigor without leaving those kids behind.

When limited resources is used for more than what they were planned for individual magnet students get less than they need.[/quote]
DP.. I *might* agree with #1 but not #2. [b] If they expanded the program to include more qualified students[/b] would you be just as upset in terms of less resource for your DC?  I doubt it.  [/quote]

No I would not. At that point the expansion will happen with MCPS and BOE acknowledgement and additional resource would have to be negotiated. This is another gripe that the 100 county wide seats have not been expanded over a decade even though countywide (HG students) population has increased several fold.[/quote]
