Crime of opportunity? Someone killed her late on the 10th, and then the 11th came around and the answer to "what do I do with this body now?" was obvious: it was the perfect opportunity to dispose of a body. I'd imagine there were piles and piles of garbage and burnt things, right? Were they searching everything for bodies? Would anyone notice a large garbage bag or duffel amidst the mess?[/quotei I was in NYC at the time and worked nearby.t No way could a rando get close enough to dump a body. There were blockades blocks and blocks away.c The weirdest thing is the 4 am call from the house to his cell phone. Was he really home?
That 4am call stood out to me, too. But he said that he may have groggily been using the home phone to check messages on his cell phone and didn't have a clear memory of doing that because he was half asleep.
Very weird. But are we to assume she called him from home at 4am, because he wasn't home? Where was he? I can't buy the "checked my voicemail" story. I had a basic cellphone in 2001 and I never used another phone to check my voicemail. I mean, even if the excuse was that it was in another room and his home phone was closer, and he was calling to see if she had left a message, wouldn't you GET UP and check to see if she had made it home, and was in the other room or bathroom? Look for any trace she had stopped by while you were sleeping? And wouldn't you just say that? "I woke up and decided to check my voicemail. My phone was in the kitchen but the home phone was by the bed." Why say, "I don't remember." I had a scare one night when my husband didn't come home when expected after a ball game with friends. I couldn't get ahold of him but just went to bed. At 3am I woke and he still wasn't home. I vividly remember looking at my phone, getting up to check the living room, kitchen, bathroom, garage, driveway. Turns out he drank too much and crashed at our friends house, but even though I was groggy, I was scared. Was HE not scared? Or is he just a bad liar. Or both.
