Yes, I do think about one ex in particular. The others were not that important. But the one ... it isn't the sex, it isn't that I'd want to be with him (well, maybe a little), but mostly it's him. He was my best friend, and I miss him. It has gotten less the further I've gotten away from him (20 years).
Yep, this is me too. He was my best friend and boyfriend in college. He "got me" like few people ever have. If I think about college (and I do on occasion because those were some of the best year of my life), I think about him. We had such fun together! We parted on good terms and are now both have been married for years to other people. My husband also "got me" and "gets me" and I'm 100% loyal to him in the here and now. As such I'm not connected on social media with my college boyfriend because I don't think any good would come of it. I don't need to complicate my life. But I do think of him from time to time.
+1, exactly my situation too. My husband is wonderful, and I think our marriage is happier / works much better than being married to my college ex would've. But at the same time, he and I had something special, and in general that was just a wonderful fun happy time in my life. I definitely think about him from time to time, and get a little wistful and miss him/what we had. I too have chosen not to connect with him on social media...I see him pop up in mutual friends' pictures from time to time, but I'm sure having the ability to stalk on demand would lead to random nostalgia-fueled walks down memory lane / have him pop up more in my mind than the random passing times it does now. Just no need.
