Bicyclists break laws all the time. Honking loudly while I blow past you isn't illegal, but it sure would be inconsiderate, wouldn't it? Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you should. Biking down a main thoroughfare road necessitating that some (nicer) people will slow down behind you is rude and selfish in the extreme. Selfish actions have consequences.
When a person uses a bicycle to get from Point A to Point B, that's inconsiderate? How about all of the people using cars to get from Point A to Point B, who are really the ones clogging up the roads -- are they being inconsiderate too? Plus, actually it is illegal for you to honk loudly while you blow past a bicyclist in your car. 2010 Maryland Code TRANSPORTATION TITLE 22 - VEHICLE LAWS - EQUIPMENT OF VEHICLES Subtitle 4 - Other Equipment Section 22-401 - Horns and warning devices. ยง 22-401. Horns and warning devices. (b) When to be used.- The driver of a motor vehicle shall, when reasonably necessary to insure safe operation, give audible warning with his horn, but may not otherwise use the horn when on a highway. ("Highway" here means any road.)
