Of course 18-year-olds can legally do all these things.

They cannot, however, legally drink. Or legally do weed. Or legally host parties where they serve alcohol and weed to other 18-year-olds.

It's not "infantilizing" your child to recognize that perfectly normal and otherwise mature 18-year-olds are going to see this is an opportunity to do all these things. It's actually a failure of parenting to be in denial about how the teen brain works.

Oh please. Only in the US would the concern be having a beer or two and smoking some pot. This is ridiculous. By 18, you should also have taught your kid about how to handle those things (and what kind of beer they like). Jeez. [/quote]
