According to the 2016-17 OSSE enrollment data, there are now 538 6th graders at Deal. However, the total number of 5th graders from the 6 Deal feeders is 439, significantly fewer. So what will happen for next fall? Will 99+ students move IB for Deal or students now in charters or privates will enroll at Deal? Or maybe, just maybe, things are leveling off a bit? https://osse.dc.gov/enrollment we we really think that 99+ students will have moved to the Deal IB zone by the first day of school in 2017 or return to DCPS from charters/private etc?
There currently are 7 Deal feeders, not 6. According to the data you pointed us to, these 7 Deal feeders combined have 511 students in 5th grade: Bancroft 73 Eaton 72 Janney 93 Hearst 40 Lafayette 101 Murch 79 Shepherd 53 The 5th grade last year had 523 students which is only 12 more than this year's 5th grade.
I think the current 5th graders at Eaton are the last with feeder rights to Deal (unless they have a sibling already attending). If that's correct, the earlier poster's underlying point is correct. Starting in Sep. 2018, Deal presumably would be getting about 70 fewer elementary kids.
