For the younger years what makes the CCL teams better? Anyone player can join these clubs and the costs are roughly the same for travel. ..right?
I don't necessarily think a CCL team is better than non-CCL at the younger ages. As I mentioned before, each team will vary greatly. If you have a club nearby that isn't CCL, then they may be the better choice for the younger players. Yes, anyone can pay their money and join any team, in any club (provided they tryout and are made an offer). I think the costs are mostly the same from one team to the next, but it can get more expensive when you play for the larger clubs. And the cost goes up depending on what each team decides to do for tournaments...we've been on teams where the travel was limited mostly to DMV area, with maybe one trip to Richmond or Va Beach. Other teams we've been on have traveled to PA, NJ, NC (as young as U10-11)...and some even further (GA, FL, OH, etc). But I think you find the travel increases with the level and age of the team...older teams will travel farther.
