The National Building Museum is not that great for adults either. Especially since there is an admission fee as well. I think the National Zoo is fine and as many pointed out, it's free. But, it's not as great as ppl make it sound. I'm curious about Maryland Zoo.
I really enjoy the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. You take a tram from the parking lot to where the animals are. The African trail starts on a wooden walkway so you dont feel like your kids can go running off to far. They have giraffes and at certain times you can participate in giraffe feeding which my 4yo thought was the best thing ever. You basically pay an extra $2 ( if i remember correctly) and you get a plant shoot to feed them. Lots of places to sit down and eat. There is also a kids trail with a fun bridge, cave, and slide that comes out of a tree, Barnyard area with goats you can go in with a brush are always a huge hit with my kid too. yes its more to get in because you pay per person but its 10x better than the DC zoo.
