No doubt most people (of all races) choose to self-segregate if given the option. But you also see tons of people very willling to let their hunt for a good bargain to overtake their inclination toward self-segregation. Heck, that's exactly what white gentrification of black neighborhoods is all about!: greed trumps fear for lost people.
