The county will not disclose the per pupil cost of HB Woodlawn. It is considered a "program" and the kids graduate from Yorktown. So any per pupil costs would be lumped in with Yorktown. So how much do you think it costs per kid to go there???? Many believe these choice programs are why the cost per pupil is so high in Arlington. Just try and ask - you will never get an answer.
This is all just total lies. It is a program; kids graduate from their home high schools which can be any of the three. The total annual budget for H-B is developed using the same planning factors as all middle and high schools in Arlington. See pages 314-315 of the FY2017 budget book. Projected FY2017 enrollment of 679 students, budget of $8,636,618, for per student cost of $12,719. That is about the same as the three comprehensive high schools (slightly higher because some of the highest paid staff, like the principal/assistant principals, librarian, nurse etc, are spread across fewer students). http://www.apsva.us/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Budget_FY2017_Adopted_Final_ForWeb-updated.pdf
