If my wife has a baby while we're vacationing in China is the baby given birthright China republic citizenship? If not, why?
No. Neither the People's Republic (China) nor the Republic of China (Taiwan) offer birthright citizenship. If your wife gave birth while in China or Taiwan and you asked about that they'd laugh you right out of the hospital. What your child would get (in China) would be a lung full of polluted air. I would sometimes ask people in China about that if they complained that they found it hard to get US citizenship or visas. I'd ask if they supported more visas and birthright citizenship for the African immigrants in Guangzhou. They'd get all offended that I would even include them in the same category or sentence as Africans.
