I hated a post someone shared today (not sure if it was recent for Jen). It was a ‘back to school psa’ It talked about the kids living in a frat house and then terribly transitioning back to school. It went on, about bath time, then after bath they’re regulated, and you do pizza and a movie (noo!!!! Do bath time, then skip unregulating them with a movie!! Give them peace and quiet) The friend of mine who posted said it was relatable. Which I don’t think is true for my friend. And not for me. I think it’s just her and her kids. Read it to see what I mean. (My 12yo happened to watch me read it on the computer, and we discussed. She and I agreed that’s not how it has to be)
Yes it was on her last handful of instas. “They are WASTED. If by some miracle they don't melt down at school, you can bet your bottom dollar they will at home.” I relate to some of the easy going / craziness that happens in the middle of summer. But, you take care of routines and regulations early. I’ve not once in my (collective adding it all up) 17 years of back to school had kids melt down. I’ve had K’ers be worn out. I’ve had first graders cry on day 3 when it all really hits them. But, she makes it sound like they’re hungover from a no-rules summer, and still hungover on day 1.
I know it! And why is Jen posting about this? It’s not even relevant to her anyway. Her kids are all grown except Remy, who is a senior this year and from what I see she spent most of the summer away at camp or Jen wasn’t even home to actually parent her. If she was she was publicly shaming the kid and calling her her “roommate”. The entire post was just garbage, where Jen is trying to grab engagement in space she no longer fits.
