They have a screen there to display exhibits to the witness. During JPM’s testimony the defense was going particularly going through some of the messages from fetlife and telegram. On cross they went through a lot of her jail communications. [/quote]

But even when she's being asked unrelated questions- like "where did you park your car" and "why did you call christine's phone first and then brendan's phone second" she looks at the screen to answer as if she is reading off a script.  is she allowed to read her pre- prepared responses? or is she likely just avoiding eye contact?[/quote]

Is this a serious question? They’re not allowed to have pre-written answers. The judge is literally sitting right there and  can see her screen. In fact, many times the judge had to tell the defense attorney, the witness cannot see what you’re talking about.  [/quote]

Right, that was always my understanding which is why I was asking the question of why she looks down at her screen every time she is answering a question. If you watch her testimony it truly looks like she is reading the screen.  No need to be rude! [/quote]
