It seems that this can go a couple of ways on the girls side: - Either the girls get stronger because the top players from Union and Brave join FVU and weaker players go to other teams OR - Everyone freaks out and FVU loses top players because they're not willing to gamble on FVU working out. If you get an FVU offer, how can you be assured that a strong team is being built? There will need to be a lot of coordination among parents -- "are you staying?" "who is staying?"
There are now more asses than seats. If you’re not currently a starter, you’re looking early. If you are a starter you’ll have a seat. Non starters among BRAVE, Union and FCV will end up on one of the three GA squads. Kids who are starters are not panicking. They aren’t enjoying any of this but they’ll find a team.
You may have a seat, but you may not have minutes. Retaining all starters is 22 kids. I think a lot of starters will be shopping around for new teams
Starters are relative. I had in a similar situation and went from bench, being cut to a starter on a much higher ranked team and hit a D1 spot. Different coaches see different things. It’s why it’s more important to look at the player directly in front of you than any past glory or team placement. Boys change a lot 14-18.
+1M. This cannot be emphasized enough. If the coach changes, all bets are off. One of mine was generally regarded as the most talented player on their team, by coach, teammates, etc. New coach came in and it was 15 mins per game off the bench. Same thing happened to one of my DC’s best friends (different age group). Both left and ended up playing more minutes for better teams.
100+ I have a starter whose ECNL Coach left Fall season and went from starter, playing full minutes to riding the pine (this was not even a merger)--just a new Coach with same players. He left and made a higher ranked team. But, I wouldn't be so cocky if as some of these posters. Game scores also don't represent individual player talent.
