Counties have been doing it for years. I used to work for PGCPS. They regularly recruited teachers from other countries. I taught with a handful of Filipino teachers. They were not ready for the unruly behavior of American students and they were not properly supported by the county. I don’t recall any staying more than 2 years.

I work in a district (not DC area) that brought in 200 international teachers this year. It has been a flaming hot mess. The music teacher in my K-5 building is from Nigeria; today a group of Kindergartners were running wild in her classroom and called 911 from her classroom phone for fun. No one knew they did it until police showed up at the building. Good times![/quote]

At first I read this as the teacher called 911 because the kids were so out of control.  That would have been an even better story.  [/quote]
