I don't know if he is a terrible actor, the script is weak, or it is intentional on the writer's part that he have almost no depth, but this has been so, so apparent from season 1. He makes a few moves to get June back, but he is generally SUPER weak and clearly thinks her experience is like, the equivalent of a bad week at work. [/quote]

No, I think he is aware that she’s been deeply traumatized, but few of us can relate to June’s experience even having watched her go through it. I was sexually abused for years as a child, but I didn’t fear being killed or watch friends being killed  and I didn’t have two children taken from me.[/quote]
