Sure but the problem is you can't go back beyond the moment of "creation".  So God will always be there to fill that void.  Of course, you've got intellectual integrity, so you're willing to say, "We don't know that yet."  Or "Maybe we'll never know that."

The theists have no such integrity, so they rush in with a "Creator" whose attributes conveniently include "was uncreated".[/quote]

Because it is easier to imagine a complex being than an unformed universe.  Apparently a single cell is beyond the grasp of Darwin, but any passerby can understand the idea of a being that always existed in the midst of nothingness.[/quote]
