How incredibly sad for his family. I hope they can find some measure of peace.
His family has shown great strength and grace through all this. Not sure I could do the same.
+1
+2. Having listened to Mr. Wambier since Otto's return, I am am even more convinced that better angels on earth abound. Peace by with the family and Otto.
What does this mean?
Mr. Warmbier seemed angelic to me, in his responses and body language to the press questions about his son. A perfect demeanor: one I could never have achieved and one where I knew Otto Warmbier was now at peace and in angelic hands. If you haven't seen his press conference, please do look.
So angelic he couldn't help but politicize it . Yeah very angelic indeed
Quite the contrary. This man went out of his way NOT to politicize it. When asked if the Obama administration could have done more, his answer was simply “The results speak for themselves.” He was asked questions about what our government did or didn’t do. He answered those questions honestly and as “apolitical” as he could. He didn’t lie. This family was told to “lay low” for several months. Meanwhile, they made repeated trips to DC to talk with lawmakers, ambassadors, anyone who would listen and to no avail. They never met with Obama. Not sure they ever spoke with him. When Trump came to office, Tillerson took this case on right away. He enlisted the assistance of the Swedes and State Department Special Representative Joseph Yun. This is the man that negotiated, with N Korea, for his release. I wouldn’t blame the parents one little bit for being angry that their so-called “strategic patience” was wasted energy, but he didn’t come across as angry at all. He was thankful for the time he was able to spend with his son.
Exactly.
If this is correct, I have a lot of respect for Tillerson. Kerry was one of the worst secretary of state so far. And if he didn't use any of his expertise in this case, shame on him.
If this is true, about Tillerson, I wonder about others that had to die, and the parents were told to lay low. Like Kayla in Syria. Other countries paid the ransom, and got their people back. Are those other countries off worse now? Are their citizens kidnapped in larger numbers than ours? Does not appear to be the case.
