I hope people aren’t using this thread to get the facts. There are so many false claims and accusations. Stick to what you know for a fact from the police/court directly. One child shot another. He was new to Wootton and lived in the cluster. In court, it was stated he had no prior record. We do not know his motive for a fact. Just a lot of rumors. The victim is in the hospital. We have heard nothing official about a criminal record. Mom reports he was bullied and denied a COSA to transfer. The accused was not bullying him last year since he was not at Wootton himself. There’s a poster who keeps connecting Mr Nelson’s dismissal to the victim but as a Wootton parent, I don’t see any connection. We don’t know if Mom and sister knew the accused had shot someone. I know it’s hard to patiently wait for the investigation to conclude but that’s what needs to be done. As a Wootton parent, I am more concerned with the MCPS response after, particularly the poorly executed reunification process and the decision to open schools on Tuesday. Yes, they later stated it was optional, non-instructional and about emotional support but that was definitely not the message we received before the school day started. Staff and students felt pressure to show up to a place where they were traumatized less than 12 hours after returning home.
+1
