Technically doesn't matter because he's president at noon regardless, but this whole moment was so typically Trump.

They didn't wait for Melania or the rest of his family to start the swearing in so she showed up a moment after it had started and he has no self-awareness so didn't put his hand on the bibles. She spent the entire swearing in trying to whisper to him to put his hand on the bibles and he ignores her completely.

It's a small and ultimately meaningless thing but just an example of how Trump can't even do the basic, ceremonial aspects of this job well. Similarly, during Vance's swearing in, Trump was just looming the background with no expression on his face, like he's a million miles away. He has no sense of appropriateness or occasion. He doesn't know how to interact with people generally, and this extends to his public behavior. He doesn't understand how he looks or what it means to people when the President behaves in a certain way. He truly only thinks about himself and does not understand the importance of the presidential role to things like cultural unity or projecting a certain image globally.
