It's disgusting. It's disgusting he calls fellow Americans scum and it's disgusting that he insults our fallen heroes with such filth.  The man is a disgusting human being incapable of thinking of anyone but himself. He is the ultimate in victimhood politics, claiming he has experienced the worst of everything on a day set aside to remember the fallen, most of whom were young men who never got to live their lives.

I dare any Republican to defend this.

I agree. But I think most of the country has gone numb.
A majority of Republicans are deliberatly ignoring Trump's constant transgressions, because they want to vote for the GOP nominee, whoever he is, without puking. They want to believe their news media feeds who tell them that Democrats are evil and Trump isn't that bad. To keep up that charade, they need to avoid watching or listening to Trump - or at least to only watch curated clips. The only ones who can go to his rallies, follow his every post and still vote for him are either extremely stupid or billionnaires and corporations who stand to benefit from friendly legislation and tax cuts.[/quote]
I don’t think a lot of people are numb, I think a lot of people have allowed themselves to forget, and the media has aided and abetted that.

People don’t like to remember how awful the four years of Trump were. It wasn’t “mean tweets,” it was constant chaos. Constant international fire setting, constant embarrassment as an American for the douche who was trying to destroy every allied relationship we had. Then there was the actual crime. And [i]then[/i] when he, more than any other single person in the world, made covid into the life crushing monster it was. And the end of Roe.

Sometimes people will bump old threads on here with an update and I’ll scroll back a few pages to see what people were posting in 2017 or whenever. It was a full nightmare and even though I remember the general contours, it’s the specifics that are painful to relive. I don’t think most are numb, I think the trauma has brought a fog down.

But if Trump’s speeches are heard in longer clips, it’s game over for him. He’s unraveling and pathetically begging for votes among libertarians. Things don’t look good for him. [/quote]

We’re not “here” again. We might be - what with dark money, the mainstream media and our international enemies working to elect Trump - but we’re not there yet.

Though I think we should all go spend some time rolling around in the crap of the Trump years. Go re read emails or news articles or go back and visit ancient threads on this site. Really make yourself feel the chaos of the Trumpen years, Ivanka and Jared “nepotisting,” Trump insulting regular people, Trump and Jared stealing PPE and ventilators from blue states as people were frozen at home…
