It seems that this can go a couple of ways on the girls side: - Either the girls get stronger because the top players from Union and Brave join FVU and weaker players go to other teams OR - Everyone freaks out and FVU loses top players because they're not willing to gamble on FVU working out. If you get an FVU offer, how can you be assured that a strong team is being built? There will need to be a lot of coordination among parents -- "are you staying?" "who is staying?"
FVU will work on in the long-run but the 2012s may be a mess for the first year or two assuming a lot of the top players who were already trying out elsewhere as its the first year jumping from RL to ECNL/GA may not want to be the guinea pig group. Instead of coaches being able to scout that group for several seasons they will now have to just try to piece it together through the imperfect thing that is tryouts where often the loudest players or the players who look fancy with their footwork stand out but when it comes to the large field it turns out they lack in other skills or vision etc.
