The DPL was the feeder league for the DA. I'm hearing that all the DA girl's teams first choice is the ECNL, but if they not being let in, they will all go to the DPL together.
Together never happens. The top girls will be picked off. Everyone does what’s best for their kid and family.
I agree that this will still cause a lot of issues with some clubs retention, but where do all of these kids go? There are several clubs here, but this is not the case all over the country. The stakeholders at these clubs are going to want to do what's best for them and that's to keep the doors open. How do you do that, you have the new Elite league that most of the current DA clubs is already familiar with. I'm not saying this will happen, but I am hearing a lot about this DPL thing. If you look at their website FCV is already affiliated with the DPL.
Yes I can see DPL becoming a strong league. You can get more info on that in the SOCAL discussions. That is where the biggest WAR was waged between DA and ECNL and DA was definitely winning out, but the rest of the country, the DA was losing to ECNL. DPL will be an elite league, but will not be ECNL, which will be the top league. Players from DPL league would probably be scouted to play for an ECNL team down the line, when tryouts are done and things settle. So you and DD would have to ask yourselves, do I jump ship from a club that does not have ECNL, into a club/program that offers ECNL and make my way up? (Assuming your DD did not make the top ECNL team), or do you stay with your club and hope for the best, if your goal is to play in college. Nothing wrong with playing good soccer in the other leagues. Just would not be the best of the best. Which, everyone has to have a goal or dream. That’s what keeps the girls working hard and coming back.
My DD is on an ECNL team. The top 3-5 DA girls from ex DA teams will move and will make the top team in ECNL. ECNL clubs are not going to protect current rosters by offering talented girls the 2nd team and tell them they will have to work their way up. Get real. I can already see the coaches huddling with the new parents. If your club does not offer the first team, these girls will go to the next clubs or stay were they are. If one clubs gets 3 or more players from ex DA teams that team will be a very strong. Remember all the ECNLs will be improving their rosters. If an ECNL club protects its water down roster they will be a bottom feeder club in the new ECNL landscape and their top girls will leave for a better ECNL team. The bottom ECNL teams do not get the exposure of the top teams. Very few girls will want to move to be on the second team. Second teams at most place are treated like they do not exist...at places like mclean it’s even worst. There is a lot of room on the ECNL teams. People are screaming about how water down the talent is but it’s only water down at the ex DA clubs ....sure.
No one is disputing that. That bottom quarter (4) of every roster is always up for grabs. This is not new. Contrary to reporting on this forum, Some ECNL teams have the ability right now to absorb 3-4 players without making a single cut.
This is over-simplified. Not every DA and ECNL roster is the same in terms of strength. For example, the entire MU roster (at 03 and younger) may have be challenged to make any ECNL team while 15 of some FCV or 8 of some Arlington rosters could displace some ECNL team's rosters if a true tryout could happen. Everyone thinks their team is the best including teams that are at the bottom of weak divisions in their league. They are the best last place teams in history.
Clueless post. Talk about over-simplified. There are MU players Bobby has wanted for years that would have taken roster spots from FCV players. And don’t blame the post on FCV. Even FCV parents know this. DA clubs are packed with talent. Everyone better keep training and get ready.
+1. MU hater who doesn't know some of the players, just looks at scores.
Are you telling me that 0-10 MU 06 team is loaded with talent?
Like I said, another parent with the mentality that they have their player playing on the most talented last place team in history.
Then your precious little Mia has nothing to fear and you can continue your path to a scholarship and mediocre degree. Nothing stands in your way! Seriously, you have completely lost your mind. If we did this kind of thing on the academic front, I am sure expulsion and ostracism would follow. But it seems perfectly OK to do it here, probably because the stakes are so GD low.
