Meaningless to persuade anyone to play up. League rule is in black and white. Club might have slight different interpretations when someone want to play up. Just check your own club or any club you can try out in your local area. My club just released the policy and it's very clear: "Players are required to try out for their true age group based on the August 1-July 31 cut-off unless coaches have pre-approved the player to try out in an older age group"
Wont last, when clubs see quality players leaving for other clubs that let players play with their grade and terrible play downers seeking them out they will change their tune.
Leave to where? every quality club in the area has similar policy. You want to play with grade or classmates, form a class team with both boys and girls and play in the P/E class for fun
They'll go to the club that gives them the best exposure to college coaches. This does not happen on teams full of play downers who get ignored by recruiters. Lather rinse repeat and teams will only be made up of one graduating year. Which will force Aug birthdays to play on the team thats their grade in school.
No such club. 1% can play up and being star. Who will play up anyway
Do what you want it doesnt matter. Play downers will be filtered out once they've gone past their usefulness. By the time they hit 11v11 they'll be on a team thats their grade in school.
More wishcasting that goes directly against teams posted rules in the DC area. Club not going grade at all.
Is that why Arlington asked for players grade in school at tryouts?
Arlington is only enforcing in case by case basis. If your kid is proven talent that outplays incoming competition the your kid and stay in current grade grouping.
But they didn't ask players at tryouts for their grade in school before this season correct? Just trying to get some honesty out of you.
Not PP, but it makes sense in this particular year that they'd pay closer attention to grade. It's why it gets 2 questions in their Q&A. Q: Can players play up an age group? A: Playing up is a coaching and technical decision based primarily on the player’s skill level, soccer maturity, and overall development needs. While Arlington Soccer allows flexibility in certain cases, playing up is the exception rather than the rule. Each situation is carefully evaluated by the technical staff to ensure it is in the best interest of both the individual player and the team. Q: Can a player born between August 1 and September 30 play up if they are in the higher school grade? A: School grade may be considered as part of the evaluation, but the decision to allow a player to play up is ultimately based on technical criteria including the player’s skill, maturity, and readiness for the older age group. Grade alone does not guarantee that a player will play up.
