This conversation really touches on how much of a school's reputation is attributable to the school actually doing something better, and how much is attributable to packing it with well-off kids whose parents get them tutoring and other advantages outside of school. Increasingly, the conversation is trending toward the idea that Wootton is good academically because the kids are wealthy and insulated from people who aren't, and that looping in kids of mixed SES who are local to the school will render Wootton as average as any other school that includes less-wealthy populations. So is there actually anything special about Wootton and its students? Or is it just the bubble? Maybe this is obvious to everyone else, but I had always thought the argument was that Wootton was something impressive and special in and of itself. But it seems like it might not be any better education-wise than any other school in the district.
They are good kids with generally higher iqs as they were blessed with the genetics. Social engineering. Many of us providing tutoring and many of the same activities the Wootton kids are in but some of those families self segregate and will not let the kids be friends, especially outside their culture. You can do online tutoring pretty affordable and get PhD level tutors.
