It wasn’t a lie - the MAGA crowd had been trying desperately to make people believe that the murderer was  part of some leftist group starting when Kirk’s body was still warm. That was their number one priority.

Also, this should go without saying but comedians are allowed to make political speeches just like they are allowed to tell jokes in America.

MAGA was saying that he was in some cabal of leftists as soon as the shooting happened, without any evidence. That’s what Kimmel was saying and when he said it there wasn’t determinative evidence either way.[/quote]
