Brothers and Sisters, Let's demystify this a bit. Seems like some sincere folks trying to catch up on the showcase circuit. Starting with First Class Lacrosse. They run a variety of programs. The marquee event is Best in Class. This is an application/invite event and is staffed by FCL staff. College coaches widely attend the recruiting year event. Rising 9th and 10th graders are not really there for recruiting, but to get used to a top-tier event and get in the pipeline for an invite for their recruiting year. Applications open in August and are on a rolling basis. FCL also has Fall and Winter showcases. These are open registration and players can work directly with college coaches. Good events without quite the same production level as Best in Class, and a greater distribution of talent. FCL also has winter training in several regions, and recently announced the B13 event, which kicked off the consternation over invites and confusion with Best in Class itself. For Best in Class for 2026, realistically, that ship has sailed. Only chance would be a direct engagement from a respected club director or high school coach supported by film. For Best in Class, you really need to apply early with club support and good film, go as a rising 9th or 10th grader, AND do pretty well (formal evaluations) to get into the pipeline. Most early invites this year appear to have been for returners with a high "impact score". That it why, assuming a top showcase actually matters for recruiting (safe assumption), it is short-sighted for clubs like Capital to discourage players going in the non-recruiting year. And what could be better for development than 16 hours of high-tempo drills and games with and against some of the best players in the country...? A two hour evening practice with your teammates? Hardly. Hope that helps.
