No they wouldn’t have. There’s people like that everywhere, literally everywhere, in every small town in the US. They find community online and get radicalized that way. Now I’m not saying the shooter was textbook far left - it seems just as likely he was pretty much apolitical and was radicalized into violence by gamer meme internet culture, where he seemed to spend most of his time.
