If women have a passport, SAVE will not apply, correct?
Are passports free and easy? Voting is a right.
Passports are $165 dollars and it costs another $15 to take a passport photo at the passport facility. If you need expedited processing, to ensure you hopefully get your passport before the 2026 midterms, that is $60 for expedited processing and $22 for expedited delivery. With the extreme influx of passport applications from this law people will be forced to pay $265 if they want to ensure they are able to vote in the 2026 midterms.
1. A passport is not required. 2. FWIW, a passport is $130--not $160. I just renewed mine. Standard delivery took about 3 weeks. You can take your picture with your phone. And, guess what? You need a birth certificate the first time you get a passport. Again: YOU DO NOT NEED A PASSPORT TO VOTE UNDER THE SAVE ACT
And if you don’t have a passport, you need a drivers license and birth certificate, both of which also cost money if you need to replace them. Still a poll tax.
And the names on them have to match, and if they don't, then you need other documentation to explain why. The point being, the burden of proof should not be on the US citizen voter here -- it should be on the government to prove alleged wrong doing if they have evidence of it. This is a Constitutional right.
What documentation did you use to change your name on your drivers license? Your social security card? I've done both. Here is what you need: marriage license. This is not that hard. And, it is not a poll tax.
And if you lost your marriage license, birth certificate, passport or whatever in a fire, you have to pay money for new ones. If you don’t, you can’t vote. It’s a poll tax.
If you lose anything in a fire, you have to pay to replace it. Most people don't have fires. Keep your documents in a fireproof box.
A citizen can't vote if they misplace their ID on election day. You are OK with that?
