This is by design, you have to put in a certain amount of work, and only so many bitcoins will be produced per unit of time. This requires more and more energy. Also, if you don't mine more bitcoins, you can lose your existing stash. If someone mines a majority of bitcoins in a certain period, they own all the bitcoin.[/quote]
