I just try to imagine all of the wonderful places people are going and focus on that.
That helps. I do wonder what we can do to encourage DCA to fly more southbound. They seem to solely fly northbound on beautiful, clear days like today (admittedly there is some wind). One good thing i do for myself these days is to get up extremely early and go for long walks. I thank my misophonia for that :-)
Don't blame yourself. What we have here is not normal. We don't all have misophonia and yet we find it unbearable. The winds are from the north today so flights are northbound. However, many times when winds and from the south typically under 10 mph planes still take off to the north. Our representatives from Arlington and DC need to speak up at the meetings they attend every three months with the FAA. It was mentioned recently that the Working Group members from Potomac constantly complain about too many south flow operations because they succeeded in moving all departures away from Potomac in 2021 so it is not an issue for them. https://www.flyreagan.com/sites/flyreagan.com/files/2024-07/Reagan%20National_Noise%20Working%20Group_Voting%20Members_July%2030%202024.pdf
