The board situation is annoying at Burgundy. Those parents are all friends and nominate people in their clique of friends (notice the 7th grade parent overload). It is like a popularity contest at a large suburban high school.
Does this affect the kids' academic experience? If one doesn't care about being on the board, will this even be a concern? - prospective parent
No this does not affect the student's academic experience. If you do not care about being on the board that it should not be a concern. An independent school's Board should be focused on the long term for the school. Strategic planning etc. Not day to day operations and certainly not academics. There is an individual or a few individuals that continue to express their dislike of the current Board make up on DCUM. I'm really not sure what to say to that. We are a current family and our DC has done very well at Burgundy. It's been a good fit.
