CDC stats aren't that alarming. Plus, the COVID (as in only COVID) deaths include underlying issues. So if I died from a heart attack but had COVID, it's listed as covid. There's a COVID +pneumonia, too. Did you see how VA was testing? lol If you are tested three times, and your results are three positives, you're added to the dbase as three different stats. This is blown out of proportion.
This is inaccurate or deflection. There's no reason to correct you because you don't care. You don't care about the worst pandemic our world has had in 100 years.
I am interested in what you think needs correction because I tend to agree with pp. And, where do you get off making the statement in bold? Nothing pp stated leads me to believe that he/she doesn't care.
Because she's wrong. The "misclassification" of covid deaths is a talking point but it's wrong. Virginia hasn't changed how positive cases are counted, has changed how numbers of tests are counted. When she's posting wrong information, I have a hard time believing that she cares about the pandemic. Only scoring points.
I don't know about VA, but I disagree with the bolded..... https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/15/health/us-coronavirus-deaths-trends-wednesday/index.html ....Deaths will include those that are "probable" but didn't have a test. These could be anything respiratory related. Regular flu? Yep, Covid-19. Asthma? Yep. Covid-19 https://www.medpagetoday.com/infectiousdisease/covid19/85925 And, we have patients who have died WITH the virus but not BECAUSE of the virus. It is difficult to discern which it is. And, hospitals get a higher reimbursement for COVID-19 related deaths.
One way to answer the question of under versus over counting is by looking at excess mortality. That is how many more deaths are happened than were happening last year (or averaging over the last several years) at this time. The data shows that deaths are up above what is being attributed as COVID deaths across the board. This is a crude metric because it tells you that more people have died this year but not why. But I think it does answer the question - are we over counting Coronavirus deaths? The answer is no. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/05/05/us/coronavirus-death-toll-us.html
